Brooke Luokkala2025-26 Fox Center Humanities Pathways Fellow

My name is Brooke, and I am the 2025-2026 Fox Center Humanities Pathways Fellow.

As a PhD candidate in Emory's Department of Art History, my work focuses on the relationship between materials and images in Formative Period (1800-200 BCE) Peru. My dissertation emphasizes the importance of collections research and the integration of methodologies from archaeology, art history, and museum studies.

Before receiving the Fox Center Humanities Pathways Fellowship, I was a 2021 Mellon Graduate Fellow in Object-Centered Curatorial Research. From 2022-2025, I was a teaching assistant in the Department of History. In Fall 2024, I taught my first course as lead instructor in Andean Art.

Over the next academic year, I look forward to assisting Fox Center staff in organizing and executing the various lectures, workshops, and events they put on.
