Anita OsuriUndergraduate Humanities Honors Fellow
Anita Osuri is a senior studying Quantitative Sciences with a track in Biological Anthropology.
Her thesis titled "Uncommon Illness, Unequal Burden: Rare Disease at the Intersections of Identity" examines how the lived experiences of individuals with rare diseases are shaped not just by medical symptoms, but also by their intersecting identities (race, socioeconomic status, gender, age, etc). Because rare diseases receive limited research attention due to low prevalence and financial disincentives, this project will examine how systemic gaps further impact the experiences of those living with these conditions. Anita will draw on interdisciplinary methods such as ethnographic research, textual/sentiment analysis, and quantitative analysis.
