Faculty Fellowships
The Fox Center's Faculty Fellowship is a selective program to support the research of tenured Emory faculty. Each year, we select a number of Faculty Fellows whose projects engage our annual theme. Our fellowships are intended primarily for faculty in Emory’s College of Arts and Sciences, but each year we reserve one fellowship for a faculty member in another of Emory's schools (Law, Theology, Business, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or Oxford College).
Fox Center Faculty Fellowships provide a full year of teaching and administrative leave and Fellows receive a private office in the Fox Center and $3000 in additional research funding. During their term of residence, Faculty Fellows attend the weekly fellows' seminar and participate in programming related to the Fox Center's annual theme. In the academic year following their fellowship, Faculty Fellows offer a Keyword seminar on a topic of their choice.
Applications for our 2026-2027 cohort are now open. Learn more about our 2026-27 research theme "Habitat" and apply via Interfolio.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a faculty fellowship, you must be a tenured faculty member in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences or another Emory University school (Law, Theology, Business, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Oxford College).
In accordance with the College leave policy, faculty should expect to engage fully and be in residence for three years between leaves. Faculty who have taken leave in the three years preceding the fellowship year are ineligible for a fellowship. Previous funding or released time for a related project may be taken into consideration during the selection process. Except in unusual circumstances, faculty are expected to return to Emory for at least two semesters in residence after the fellowship.
Our faculty fellowships are a longstanding program for tenured Emory faculty, but we are happy to consider applications for seminar participation only by untenured or teaching track faculty at Emory whose research is particularly resonant with the theme. Applications may be made in the spring semester preceding the start of the theme year. If you are interested in this option, please email Director Carla Freeman, copying Associate Director Mae Velloso-Lyons.
